Calogero - Un Jour Au Mauvais Endroit (In memory of Kevin and Sofiane)

Here is a beautiful sad song that send shivers down my spine. "Un Jour Au Mauvais Endroit" is a song by Calogero in memory of Kevin Noubissi and Sofiane Tadburt. Très bel hommage !

On Friday 28th of September 2012,  two 21-year-olds in Échirolles, a Grenoble suburb, were brutally killed by a gang, from a neighbouring city Villeneuve, armed with hammers, pick-axe handles, baseball bats and knives.

The two youths were stabbed and beaten by the gang who was reportedly seeking vengeance after an incident outside a high school involving Noubissi's younger brother "looking the wrong way" at another teenager.

Kevin Noubissi and Sofiane Tadburt being at the wrong place at the wrong time fell into the hands of the gang which consisted of about  15 young men. Noubissi, a student, was stabbed seven to eight times, and Tadburt, a tutor / a youth worker, 30 times in the double murder. Neither of the victims had any police record. Funerals for the two friends took place the following day at a local mosque, with hundreds of mourners attending.

Suspects were identified by eyewitnesses and from CCTV footage. French police arrested some of them and launched a nationwide manhunt to track down two others who were on the run. The fugitives, aged 18 and 20, separately turned themselves in some 6 days later.

The 18-year-old had just been released from prison after serving a sentence for stabbing a supermarket security guard while the 20-year-old was being investigated over an alleged knife attack at a cashpoint when the incident occured.

Calogero, a French singer, was born in Échirolles where the two victims grew up and were also killed. His song Un Jour Au Mauvais Endroit meaning At The Wrong Place reflects on the circumtance of the murder of  Kevin and Sofiane who a victims of juvenile delinquency where rampant unemployment and criminality are common.

On the 27th of march, Kevin's mother, a a pediatrician, released a book title "Le Ventre Arraché" where she talked about her never ending grief and sorrow since her son was viciously killed along with his friend.
