It's Friday and i am free à partir de midi because lectures end at 12 pm. When I don't have rendez-vous chez le docteur, chez le dentiste, à la banque etc., I go to Nice either to eat with my husband if he is free during lunch, or I eat with Fabrice, Catherine or Charlotte in a café, brasserie, Indian restaurant, or rastaurant Kebab, afterwards Shopping. If everyone else is busy and I have to eat alone, I buy my favorite sandwich, Panini au fromage and eat while I window shop.

My bestie Fabio doesn't go home directly on Fridays, he prefers to stay in Nice and hang out with friends. He drops me of at La Place Masséna in centre ville de Nice, so I can go shopping. If he isn't able to take me to centre ville, I take the tram with Vero.

Since we still have du beau temps, better I enjoy beforewinter creeps in. Friday remains the best day of my week, I actually spend my week making a list of what I'll buy Friday. It's the only time I get to relax from a stressful week.

Place Massena
Place Massena
A la Place Masséna, there is this popular street is known all over the world for its excellent shopping opportunities and its outdoor cafés. It's called Avenue Jean Medecin. It  runs from Place Massena up through the city centre up to le pont de chemin de fer de la gare SNCF. It is a wonderful place to be especially during summer when it's full of tourists. It's takes about 30 minutes to walk the length of Avenue Jean Medecin, you can't be bored even if you don't want to shop but just look around.
Avenue Jean Medecin
There are no cars on this long avenue only the tram running through the middle of it so you have to be careful when you cross the streets.

The avenue has a concentrated huge number of moyenne gamme while the magasins hautes gammes are found on Rue Paradis, Avenue de Verdun and Rue Masséna. Nice is a real paradise for shoppaholics with several choices from elegant and luxurious clothing stores to moyenne gamme, small shops to large malls. There are also several bijouteries and  beauty shops to flea markets offering great bargains. Street vendors offer souvenir T-shirts and good deals on countless merchandise. You'll find poor immigrant beggars with "pour manger svp" or "une petite piece pour depanner" signs, to drunk homeless veterans of the 50s Algerian war. The rich american and English tourists, and of course Nice's upperclass bourgeois sipping coffee or wine at the many sidewalk cafés.

There are magasins haute de gamme reserved for certain clients, the bourgeoisie. Me, I do moyenne gamme that can be found on Avenue Jean Medecin like Mango, H&M, Zara, Micheal Korrs, Cache Cahe, Morgan,  Bershka etc
H&M
When you visit Nice, don't leave until you walk down the avenue. You won't regret it and you won't stop dreaming till you come back. There are several shopping malls as well such as Galeries Lafayette, Nice Etoile, Carrefour TNL, Monoprix which can be compared to our own Shoprite, Fnac where you can buy books, computers, dvd's, cd's, etc.
Avenue Jean Medecin la nuit
The beautiful avenue is packed as well with several brasseries, cafés and restaurants such as The Hippopotamus. There's the Night Life too, but I do not know much about it. There are several casinos and pubs I heard.
Pub
For the homesick Americans, there is McDonalds known in here as Mac Do and a money exchange store, unfortunately, they don't change Naira. And lest I forget, there is the cathédral Notre Dame.
Eglise Notre-Dame
There is also the Vieux Nice to visit. But I won't be talking about that today... It's another day's topic.
